Metasequoia glyptostroboides

General Description:

Offsets root easily, forming a colony of rounded plants with green stems and white, star-shaped spines. Straw-like flowers form around the crown.

Cultivation:

Pot in standard cactus potting mix in full light with shad from hot sun. Provide low humidity. From mid-spring to autumn, water freely. Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer monthly in late spring and summer. Water sparingly in winter.

Propagation:

Sow seed at 19-24ºC in late winter or early spring. Remove and plant offsets in early spring.

Pests & Disease:

Soft rot, stem rot, scale insects, root mealy bugs and mealybugs may be problematic
