Eruca vesicaria
Planting:
Sow seed in early spring, covering lightly with 1/8" of soil. Prefers a cool soil temperature for germination, 4-13°C (40-55&F). Sow thinly, 1" apart in rows or bands 3" apart. Plant every 2-3 weeks to ensure a constant supply.
Growing:
Use an area with full sun to partial shade and a soil pH of 6.0-7.0. Arugula will grow well in any rich garden soil.
Harvesting:
Begin cutting leaves at 2" tall. Flowers are edible as well.
Pests & Diseases:
Flea beetles. Use row covers or interplant with taller companion vegetables to shelter or hide plants.
Companions:
Bush bean, beet, carrot, celery, cucumber, lettuce, onion, potato, spinach.
