Leucanthemum superbum. A superb Shasta Daisy with buttery yellow flowers that mature to a creamy white. Neat, compact plants work well in small spaces and at the front of the border. Height 15-18". 2.5" plug. Pkg of 1.
Some Perennials will be shipped to you from our greenhouses. They will be in pots and may have actively growing green leaves. These pots should be immersed in water upon arrival to thoroughly soak the root ball. These growing plants must be hardened off before planting outside. Keep in a cool bright room, and place outside on mild days and gradually leave outside for longer periods of time. After a week or so, or when nighttime temperatures are above freezing, plant outside. If a severe dip in temperature is expected, you may want to place straw or an old blanket over the green leaves to protect them from severe damage. Frost or cold will not permanently hurt the plant, but it may damage the new leaves and set growth back.
Plant about the same depth as the soil of the plug and about 12-15 inches apart. Position in the hole so that the soil level of the plug is slightly below the surrounding soil surface. Fill soil in around the plant completely, firming the soil as you go. Covering the potted soil mix with just a little garden soil helps reduce wicking of moisture out of the potted soil mix. Mulch with 3-4 inches of weed-free straw or leaves after the ground freezes in the fall. Remove most of the mulch in early spring so they can emerge from the soil easily.
Grow in full sun to light shade. Shasta Daisies are very easy to grow and will tolerate most soil conditions and a slight bit of shade. It will survive well on its own with very little care once established and depending on the variety can bloom early or late in the season. Remove faded flowers to extend blooming. Can be divided in spring or in fall.
