Black Scallop Bugleweed
Spring Planting: this product will be shipped late April through May according to your hardiness zone.
Ajuga reptans. A phenomenal, evergreen ground cover with glossy, near-black, scalloped leaves and head-turning true-blue flowers! Unlike traditional Bugleweeds, 'Black Scallop' is better behaved and spreads slowly. Full sun locations will provide the darkest foliage, but we love mass plantings under large shade trees, where turf can be hard to establish. Height 6-8". 2.5" plug.

Some Perennials will be shipped in pots and may have actively growing green leaves. These pots should be immersed in water upon arrival to thoroughly soak the root ball. These growing plants must be hardened off before planting outside. Keep in a cool bright room, and place outside on mild days and gradually leave outside for longer periods of time. After a week or so, or when nighttime temperatures are above freezing, plant outside. If a severe dip in temperature is expected, you may want to place straw or an old blanket over the green leaves to protect them from severe damage. Frost or cold will not permanently hurt the plant, but it may damage the new leaves and set growth back.
Ajuga grows best in partial to full shade but will also grow in full sun if constant moisture is provided. It will tolerate any soil, even poor ones, as long as it is well-drained. Good air circulation is essential to avoid crown rot.
