Growing Information
Planting Perennial Roots:
It is a good idea to soak any bare-root perennials in water for a few hours, but not more than a day, before planting. Add organic matter to the area and provide good drainage unless the plant variety enjoys wet roots. Unless otherwise specified, bare-root perennials are usually planted with the crown (where the shoots meet the roots) an inch below the soil surface. Firm soil gently to eliminate air pockets and water in well. Mark the area clearly since it may be awhile before the plant shows itself.
Planting:
Persicaria tolerates pretty much any kind of soil, but does best rich, fairly moist soil. Well-established plants are fully drought resistant. Flowering is more abundant in sun or partial shade, but it will grow well and flower modestly in the shade.
Growing:
This plant is easy to grow and widely adaptable. It can tolerate dry periods and is not particular about soil pH. Requires very little maintenance. It has average water needs and will adapt to most soils.
