Exclusive

Veseys is pleased to offer this exclusive seed propagator which has been developed and manufactured with Swedish precision and quality.

The unique pop-up system allows plants to grow larger, stronger and healthier than any other conventional system we have seen. It is ideal for starting seeds or cuttings. Easy to use, the Compact Plant Trainer can be stacked or used on a windowsill.

Included is a multifunctional, transparent top that will make soil indentations for planting as well as serving as a protective, light absorbing cover. The high lid and deep plant cells allow plants to grow taller and be more mature before transplanting. The lid also serves as a ventilating device; by turning the lid 90°, you can open or close the flow of air to your seedlings.

This amazing gardening tool is even dishwasher safe which tells you how sturdy and long-lasting it is. We consider the Compact Plant Trainer the best built propagator available today! Measures 6½" high by 8" in width and length.

1. Fill the holes with potting mix and turn the lid upside down and press. Now you have 49 small holes to place your seeds in.

2. The base of the propagator unit serves two functions; (a) acts as a watering tray and (b) serves as a tool to pop-out your mature plants.

3. When your plants have grown a bit, it's time to remove the lid and allow them to grow to a larger size for replanting outside.

4. When your plants are ready, push the middle section down into the bottom and your plants will automatically lift from the holder.

Compact Plant Trainer

I've had this little gem for 5 years and love it. Put the bottom and middle pieces together, spoon in some "pre-moistened" potting soil, tap the 2 pieces on the counter to settle the soil, top off with more soil, and plant your seeds. fastest germination I have ever experienced! 5 stars!

I find them tedious to fill with mix - the mix falls into the tray but you have to leave it in place or the mix will fall out the holes. You also have to be sure to pack the moist soil mix firmly in the plant cells or the moisture will not wick. I had great success in starting tiny tiny seeds - nicotiana and lobelia -- as well as deep rooted slow growing onion seeds. It was a complete failure with blue salvia and pansies and somewhat mixed with dahlias, cosmos and zinnias. I admire the quality and sturdiness of the product but it is quite expensive.

Compact Plant Trainer

Very compact, very cute, and it does work quite well with seedling mix. However, you do have to fill the bottom tray all the way to the top to get the water level high enough for the water to wick up since the bottom of the planting tray sits on top of the pegs in the bottom tray. Then you have to toss the rest of the water because the level is too low to reach the plants. Also the plant cells are very closely spaced, so this propagator works best if you are starting only one kind of seed. If you do a variety, some seeds will germinate first and grow faster, shading out the seedlings in the next row. For me, with a suburban-sized yard, 49 plants of the same variety is too much. The planting holes are also pretty small, so this propagator is only useful for small seeds. The lid is very clever--how it turns 90 deg to create ventilation and how one side will poke planting holes; however, after one year mine has irreparably become brittle and broke. My review is mixed: I think the design is very clever but could use some improvements, and the lid needs to have some UV protection built in.
