California Bluebell Phacelia
Phacelia campanularia. Those who seek blue flowers in the garden are often disappointed to find only shades of violet. Look no further than the California Bluebell! These easy-to-grow annuals were the first to bloom in our direct seed trials. Attracts beneficial bees and beautiful butterflies. Low growing, with silvery foliage. Best displayed in mass plantings. Growing Information
Planting:
Direct seed when soil is cool and a light frost is still possible. Thin seed, once it germinates, to 8-12 inches apart. For earliest bloom, start plants indoors 6 to 8 weeks prior to planting out. Cover seeds very lightly with vermiculite and keep soil moist.
Growing:
Flowers spring through summer. Drought tolerant. Grows 6-10 inches tall and 10-12 inches wide.
