Rutabaga/Turnips
There is a difference when it comes to Rutabagas and Turnips. Turnips are bred as a small rooted vegetable that is best in flavour when harvested at approximately 2 inch diameter and eaten fresh. Leaves of turnips are also edible and full of nutrition. Rutabagas may taste similar when compared to turnips, however they are planted in late spring and left to size up and sweeten with cooler temperatures of the fall. Rutabagas have great storing capabilities and are excellent when added to that yummy winter stew.
