Morning Glory (A)
Ipomoea tricolor
Annual
May be started inside 3-4 weeks before last frost in peat pots. Usually direct seeded 2 weeks after last frost. Chip the seeds, soak for 24 hours and cover with 1/4-1/2 inch of soil. Requires a soil warmth of 21-27°C (70-80°F). Space 12-18 inches apart or closer since these plants do not mind being crowded. Plant in a sunny location and do not fertilize.
Some seeds have a very hard seed coat which makes it difficult for them to take up moisture. Chip the seed with a sharp knife at the part which is furthest away from what appears to be the eye of the seed. Or rub the seeds lightly with sandpaper.
