Echinacea. Coneflowers are always a favourite in the care-free summer garden. They are the proverbial summer flower with their daisy shape and thrive in dry, lean soil and heat. The dried seed heads provide architectural interest in winter as well as food for small birds. Very hardy and easy-to-grow, Coneflowers are resistant to pests and diseases. Height 24-40". No. 1 roots.

Growing Information
Upon Arrival:
It is very important to plant as soon as possible after you receive them. If it is necessary to store them for a short time before planting them, open the plastic bags. If the roots appear dry, soak them for a few hours in warm water. Store in slightly moist peat moss in a cold, but not freezing location until you can plant. They can also be placed in pots of soil if planting will be delayed for more than 2 weeks. Use any peat-based potting soil and pots with drainage holes. Soak bare-root perennials in water for a few hours before planting.
Planting:
Echinaceae grow well in full sun to light shade in any well-drained soil and are quite drought tolerant once established. Plant with crowns just under soil surface. Space plants 18"-24" apart.
Growing:
Deadhead the flowers to encourage continued bloom. Dig and divide in spring or fall if they start to die out in the center or outgrow the space.
