Crackerjack Marigold
Tagetes erecta. Heirloom. An African-type with extra large, fully double blooms in four shades from pale yellow to deep orange. Sturdy plants reach a height of 24-30 inches. The African is the tallest of the Marigolds. A cheerful plant suitable for beds or mass plantings. Many gardeners plant marigolds in vegetable gardens as they are known to emit an aroma that deters pests of all types. Seed is best started indoors 6-8 weeks prior to last frost date in your zone. Approx. 150 seeds/pkg; 350 seeds/gram.

Growing Information
Planting:
Very easy to grow. Start inside 6-8 weeks before last frost. Start African types earlier than French types. Cover seed with 1⁄4 inches of soil and provide an average soil warmth (75 degrees F). Transplant after last frost into a sunny location. May also be direct seeded 2 weeks before last frost.
Growing:
Will grow well in poor soil. Space African types 12-18 inches apart, and French types 6-8 inches apart. Deadhead regularly.
