Tagetes tenuifolia (signata). This series is extra compact with vigorous growth and can take more cold stress than other varieties. Early, large, double flowers and stable flower patterns ensure long lasting garden performance. The French Marigold is compact and busy and provides colourful edging to flower beds and walkways. Growing Information
Planting:
Very easy to grow. Start inside 6-8 weeks before last frost. Start African types earlier than French types. Cover seed with 1⁄4 inches of soil and provide an average soil warmth (75 degrees F). Transplant after last frost into a sunny location. May also be direct seeded 2 weeks before last frost.
Growing:
Will grow well in poor soil. Space African types 12-18 inches apart, and French types 6-8 inches apart. Deadhead regularly.
