Callistephus chinensis. Amazing blooms that are tightly packed with solid structure. A single plant can produce up to 10-15 high quality flowers. Daydream away with these fancy and exceptional shades of frosty, pastel lavender. Asters provide bright colour into the fall. Both perennial and annual Asters will attract bees and butterflies to your garden. Growing Information
Planting:
Start inside 6-8 weeks before planting out. Cover seed lightly and provide warmth (24 degrees C). May also be direct seeded in early spring or late autumn. Germination usually takes 2-3 weeks. Transplant after last frost into a sun or light shade location, 12 inches apart. Prefers well-drained, but moist soil.
Growing:
Full sun. Prefers cool weather and rich or sandy, well-drained soil. Provide regular moisture, do not overwater. Plant in different locations each year to avoid disease. Performance excellent in containers. Flowers attract butterflies and are outstanding for cutting.
