Arugula Organic Greens
The king of gourmet salad greens. Arugula, also known as Roquette, is very hardy with a fine peppery, sweet flavour. It is quick to sprout and adapts to a wide range of temperatures. 40 days. Approx. 500 seeds/pkg.
Sow seed in early spring, covering lightly with 1⁄8 inches of soil. Prefers a cool soil temperature for germination (4-13 degrees C). Sow thinly, 1 inch apart in rows or bands 3 inches apart. Plant every 2-3 weeks to ensure a constant supply.
Use an area with full sun to partial shade and soil pH of 6.0-7.0. Arugula will grow well in any rich garden soil.
Begin cutting leaves at 2 inches tall. Flowers are edible as well.
Pests & Diseases:
Flea beetles. Use row covers or interplant with taller companion vegetables to shelter or hide plants.
